BALLAST WEIGHTS

WHY DO YOU NEED BALLAST WEIGHTS?

- The platforms will "not" automatically sink to the bottom because the thermoplastic components are less dense than water.
- Even when the tubes are full of water, the platforms will still be only semi-submerged.
- You need to add the appropriate weights (see chart) to each platform to make it sink to the bottom of the pool.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT?

We only provide "estimates" because the final weight depends on many variables:
- type of water
- shape of platform
- percentage of the platform that is under water
- number of aluminum reinforcement tubes included in a platform

WHY WE DO NOT SELL THE WEIGHTS

- There are customers who already have some type of weights, and do not want to pay extra.
- We do not have the purchasing power of Walmart, Target, etc. and have to charge you much more for the "same" weights.
- Special packing and extra shipping for the weights will also add considerably to your costs
- If we offer weights of a certain size, color and shape, customers will invariably ask for different sizes, colors or weights

OPTION #1 - BASIC WEIGHT

OPTION 1:

WEIGHT-LIFTING or SCUBA WEIGHTS
- best to use the plastic, vinyl or rubber coated ones to reduce chance of pool contamination
- place weights on the bottom “floor-level” panels of the pool structure
- distribute the weight more evenly to ensure stability
- consult weight charts and continue to add weights until the platform is completely stable
- can be used on both OPEN and CLOSED platforms

Advantage: Inexpensive, easy to insert, easy to remove

* There is such a wide range of weight suppliers across the country, we do not compile lists of dealers
- you can purchase at stores like WalMart, Target, Dicks; etc or online.

OPTION #2 - DIY PVC WEIGHTS

OPTION 2:

PVC WEIGHTS (DIY) - PDF Download
- make your own weights to work with the platform tubes
- weights go "inside" the platform tubes
- distribute the weight more evenly to ensure stability
- consult weight charts and continue to add weights until the platform is completely stable
- can be used on both OPEN and CLOSED platforms

Advantage: Easy to make, easy to install, do not have to remove from platform

  REMOVING PLATFORM FROM POOL

- Remove the weights - if they are external weights.
- Move the platform to the side of the pool.
- PUSH the platform out of the water - do not PULL it out

If it is a SMALL unit, you can push it out all at once and then leave on the side to drain.

If it is a LARGER unit
- use more than one person
- tilt up against the edge of the pool - let some water drain out
- gradually raise one side over the edge of the pool
- gently "push" the whole platform out of the pool

** Do not PULL platform out of the pool **
** Do not lift out pool using the HANDRAIL **
** Do not DRAG platform on the ground **
